LATEST TRADEMARK WORLD

The December/January issue of Informa's ten-times-a-year Trademark World has now hit the streets. Features include:

* "Out of Options?" - a powerful piece by Sheldon H. Klein and David S. Modzeleski (Arent Fox) on the problems faced by US politicians in addressing the political and legal issues involved in the curbing of political cybersquatting;

* "It's not Just Dirty Tricks" by Angela Fox (RGC Jenkins ... but she's no relation of Arent), looking at the phenomenon of domain name abuse in the UK;

* A piece by Cerryg Jones and Bonita Trimmer (Wragge & Co.) on whether the European Court of Justice's recent decision in Sat.2 represents a return to its position on registrability in BABY-DRY (the IPKat wonders if it can be a "return" at all, since it's not clear that the ECJ ever left BABY-DRY behind);

* "Waiting for DOGGO" by IPKat co-owner Jeremy, a short and somewhat frivolous piece on keeping fake goods from entering the country.

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog. Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
